Controlled Tightening with Interchangeable Insert Tools
The HAZET 5280-3CT is an adjustable torque wrench for controlled tightening within a range of 2.5–25 N·m. It can be used for suitable automotive, service, assembly and industrial maintenance tasks. Select the torque setting according to the connection manufacturer’s instructions.
The 9 × 12 mm insert connection accepts suitable interchangeable insert tools. For socket applications, select a compatible ratchet insert with the required square drive size. The insert size describes the connection between the insert tool and the torque wrench.
A suitable insert tool can be turned for controlled tightening of right-hand and left-hand threads. HAZET specifies ±3% accuracy in the direction of actuation. The torque setting may need to be corrected depending on the insert tool’s effective length.
The scale graduation is 0.25 N·m. This indicates the increments shown on the scale and is separate from torque accuracy.
The actuating force indicates the minimum and maximum force required at the handle to reach the torque values within the specified range. HAZET specifies 1.3–14.3 kg for the 5280-3CT. This is not the tool’s weight; its net weight is 0.29 kg.
The insert tool’s effective length can affect the torque applied to the connection. Check the insert size, torque capacity and effective length. If the insert’s dimensions differ from the reference used for calibration, the torque setting may need to be corrected. Use HAZET’s effective length calculator or contact Surkon for technical support.
Turn the torque adjustment handle to select the required setting. The locking mechanism secures the setting, and the lock symbols show whether it is locked or unlocked.
An audible and tactile signal indicates when the set torque is reached. Stop tightening when this signal occurs.
Manufactured in Germany, the wrench is supplied with a serial number and a HAZET factory calibration certificate in a sturdy Hexa plastic box. Technical support, spare parts and calibration services in Türkiye are provided by Surkon.

HAZET 5280-3CT – Frequently Asked Questions
What is the HAZET 5280-3CT used for?
The HAZET 5280-3CT is an adjustable torque wrench for controlled tightening within 2.5–25 N·m. Its 9 × 12 mm insert connection accepts compatible interchangeable insert tools. Select the torque setting according to the connection manufacturer’s instructions.
What is the difference between the 5280-3CT and the 5290-3CT?
The 5280-3CT covers 2.5–25 N·m, while the 5290-3CT covers 10–60 N·m. Both have a 9 × 12 mm insert connection. Select the model that covers the required tightening torque.
Which insert tools fit the HAZET 5280-3CT?
Use insert tools with a compatible 9 × 12 mm connection. Depending on the task, suitable open-end, ring or square-drive ratchet inserts can be used. Also check the insert’s torque capacity, fit and effective length.
Does the 5280-3CT provide torque control for anticlockwise tightening?
Yes. A suitable insert tool can be turned for right-hand or left-hand threads. HAZET specifies ±3% accuracy in the direction of actuation. The torque setting may need to be corrected depending on the insert tool’s effective length. Follow the insert tool manufacturer’s instructions.
Does changing the insert tool affect the torque setting?
It can. If the insert tool’s effective length differs from the calibration reference, the torque setting may need to be corrected. A matching 9 × 12 mm connection alone is not enough; also check the insert’s effective length and torque capacity. Use HAZET’s effective length calculator or contact Surkon for support.
What should I do when the set torque is reached?
Stop tightening when the audible and tactile signal occurs. Do not continue applying force after the signal.
Do I need to return the wrench to the minimum scale value after use?
No. HAZET states that the 5280-3CT does not need to be returned to the minimum scale value after use. Follow the manufacturer’s handling and storage instructions.
Are calibration services and technical support available?
Yes. Surkon is an authorised HAZET dealer and technical support provider in Türkiye. Repair, maintenance and calibration services for all HAZET equipment are provided by Surkon.
After repair and maintenance of HAZET torque wrenches, Surkon issues an in-house calibration certificate. Accredited calibration services are available on request at the Surkon calibration laboratory.
